SPOTLIGHT is primarily a commensal backend designed for 24/7 searches of FRBs and pulsars. In open-sky mode (for targeted observations), a maximum of 100 hours with the SPOTLIGHT system is available for GTAC Cycle 48. More details can be found here
The petaflop high-performance computing facility, Param Brahmand, based on C-DAC's Param Rudra supercomputers was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on 26th September 2024.
The SPOTLIGHT project, utilizing the Param Brahmand HPC facility to conduct real-time commensal searches for fast radio transients (FRBs) and pulsars, has achieved its first light with the full GMRT array having 30-antenna, producing 160 beams on source 3C147 at band-4 (550-750 MHz)
The SPOTLIGHT project achieved its first light with an 8-antenna, 40-beam system on source 3C147 at band-4 (550-750 MHz) of the GMRT using 16 servers having 32 GPUs.
